Bringing Eco Conscious Apparel to Vanstock Alaska

  • All of our merchandise is 100% plastic free! We are passionate about creating wearable artwork that features plant fibers. Our clothing is Organic cotton, Hemp, Bamboo Fiber or 100% merino wool.

Synthetic fibers are the leading cause of microplastics. Microscopic polyester and nylon fibers shed off of our clothing during every wash. These fibers end up in our water ways and are ingested by humans, animals and our agriculture crops. Microfibers have been found in animals and human blood. Studies are showing that these plastics leach chemicals into our system that can cause autoimmune issues and cancers.

  • Our merch is screen printed by the Vanstock Team! From the sourcing, artworks, screen printing and photography is done all in house. Each piece is unique and showcases that it was created fully by hand.

  • There are many benefits of using water based inks.

The Feel- All those soft vintage tee shirts are printing with OG water based inks. This creates a breathable print that maintains the original feel of the fabric, like wearing butta!

    • Water based inks are biodegradable and ocean safe.

    • Water-based inks are non-toxic and do not contain harmful chemicals such as phthalates or PVC. This means that they are safer for both the environment and the individuals working with them. Plastisol inks, on the other hand, are made from PVC resins and require the use of toxic solvents for cleanup. These solvents release volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the air and are toxic for water ways.

We are proud to deliver a soft touch ink that is safe for us and marine life :)

    • Limiting Chemicals-Organic Cotton is grown without using any chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Organic cotton is also not genetically modified or treated with any chemicals (washes, bleaches, colors, or scents) during its processing and packaging.

    • Soil Health- Cotton is one of the most chemically treated crops in the world. Decimating soil health. Organic cotton must be grown on regenerated soil free from any chemicals for at least three years to thrive. This process actively contributes to soil regeneration.

    • Reduction of water- Organic practices utilize efficient irrigation techniques, such as drip irrigation, to conserve water during cotton growth. Healthier soil in organic farming improves moisture absorption and reduces runoff, promoting sustainable water management.

  • AI can seam like a harmless tool for task management, creative projects of funny videos.

AI has become a massive consumer of fresh water and water way pollutant.

“A Google search requires half a milliliter of water in energy, ChatGPT consumes 500 milliliters of water for every five prompts.

AI uses and pollutes water through related hardware production. Producing the AI hardware involves resource-intensive mining for rare materials such as silicon, germanium, gallium, boron and phosphorous. Extracting these minerals has a significant impact on the environment and contributes to water pollution. Semiconductors and microchips require large volumes of water in the manufacturing stage. Other hardware, such as for various sensors, also have an associated water footprint.

Data centers provide the physical infrastructure for training and running AI, and their energy consumption could double by 2026. Technology firms using water to run and cool these data centers potentially require water withdrawals of 4.2 to 6.6 billion cubic meters by 2027.” [Joyeeta Gupta- Research paper for the University of Amsterdam-Science, Tech and Innovation.]
